    FAQ's

What is DTF printing and why would I use it?

DTF stands for Direct to Film — it's a modern digital printing method that transfers vibrant, full-colour artwork directly onto garments with exceptional detail and flexibility. Unlike screen printing, DTF requires no setup screens, which makes it cost-effective even for single pieces or small runs. It's particularly well-suited to designs with many colours, fine lines, photo-realistic graphics, or complex shapes that embroidery can't capture. We offer DTF printing in-house at our Noarlunga location, serving businesses, schools, clubs and individuals across Adelaide and South Australia.

Does DTF printing crack or fade with washing?

Applied correctly with quality materials and proper curing, DTF prints are durable and maintain their appearance through regular washing. The film-to-fabric bond is flexible, which means it moves with the garment rather than cracking under stress. The key variables are heat application temperature during production, the quality of the film used, and following care instructions (cold wash, hang dry, no ironing directly on the print). We've seen poorly applied DTF from other suppliers crack early — which is why we control the entire production process in-house and don't outsource to operators we can't monitor.

Is DTF printing better than embroidery?

They serve different purposes and the right choice depends on your design. DTF handles complex, multi-colour artwork and photographs better than embroidery can. Embroidery delivers a premium, three-dimensional texture that suits logos, crests and wordmarks — particularly on workwear, corporate shirts and school uniforms. Some orders at Be Seen Merch combine both methods on a single garment. If you're unsure which is right for your project, bring the artwork in or send it through and we'll give you an honest recommendation based on what will actually look best rather than what's easier for us.

What garments can you print on using DTF?

We print on cotton, polyester, poly-cotton blends, performance fabrics and most standard workwear. If you're working with an unusual material, we'll test suitability before committing to a full production run. Most garments from the major Australian uniform and apparel brands are compatible with DTF. We supply garments ourselves or can print on blanks you provide — just confirm suitability with us first so there are no surprises on print day.

How long does digital printing take in Adelaide?

For most orders, turnaround is faster than embroidery given no digitising step is required. Production time depends on order volume and whether garments need to be sourced. We confirm a timeline specific to your order before production begins — no vague estimates. South Australian customers with tight deadlines for events, campaigns or team launches can speak to us directly about express options.
